Western Australia joins the NDIS.

From December 1, 2020, the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS Commission) has begun managing the quality and safeguards of NDIS supports and services in Western Australia.

With Western Australia joining the scheme the national roll-out is now complete. The NDIS Commission commenced in New South Wales and South Australia in 2018, and in Tasmania, Victoria, the ACT, Queensland, and the NT in 2019.

Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Stuart Robert, says: "The NDIS Commission was established to deliver a national approach to protecting the rights, health and well being of every Australian receiving supports under the NDIS.

"Now that it has fully rolled out, the NDIS Commission will promote quality and safe services for the 412,500 participants supported by the NDIS, no matter where they live."

With NDIS Commission now operating in every state and territory, it means that the NDIS Code of Conduct applies to all providers and workers across Australia. Registered providers need to meet NDIS Practice Standards, report certain types of incidents, report restrictive practices, and have a strong complaints system in place.
